A refreshing morning Zumba session was held from 7:15 a.m to 8:00 a.m. at the helipad of the College of Science and Technology with the objective to enhance physical rejuvenation among the diverse academic community of the Royal University of Bhutan.
The open-air venue served as a focal point for institutional unity, moving beyond the confines of formal rooms to engage in a collective Zumba session guided by our own in-house staff and faculty. This session was designed not merely as a physical exercise, but as a purposeful inter-collegiate bonding activity.
The session started with a warm-up session of 10 minutes followed by Zumba dance to a Dzongkha, English and Nepali song, and concluded with a five-minute cooling session. Participants exhibited joyful enthusiasm and engaged with the activity with evident enjoyment. The roaring laughter of the participants echoed across the venue, spreading an infectious energy so much so that one could spot a participant dancing in her room in the hostel across the helipad. The unified participation of various faculties highlighted a shared commitment to holistic well-being, balancing the rigorous intellectual demands of the upcoming discussions with physical readiness. The rhythmic coordination required during the session mirrored the collaborative synergy expected during the academic deliberations, effectively breaking down professional silos in a neutral, open environment.
The atmosphere was filled with collective synergy and mutual encouragement, setting a constructive and energized tone for the day’s proceedings. This early morning engagement saw all attendees leave in high spirits, particularly those for whom this was a first-time experience, many of whom expressed a renewed interest in learning more about Zumba.
