Room IT 03 convened eight groups, group 17-24, from 2-4 February to develop actionable ideas aligned with institutional innovation at the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB). The session progressed from problem identification and group discussions on Day 1, to idea refinement and cross-pollination with other groups on Day 2, and culminated in final presentations, abstracts, and elevator pitches on Day 3.
Across the pitching process, discussions focused on systemic transitions within RUB, including student preparedness, digital integration, financial autonomy, welfare mechanisms, and research direction.
The group pitches reflected a wide range of strategic priorities for institutional development. Group 17 focused on Bridging the Gap between Secondary and Tertiary Education to improve academic readiness and transition outcomes. Group 18 proposed the RUB LifeSkills & Values Development Programme (RUB-LSV) to strengthen holistic student development, while Group 19 presented a strategic roadmap Towards Financial Autonomy: A Strategic Roadmap for RUB, aimed at reducing dependency through diversified revenue streams. Group 20 emphasised the importance of informed student decision-making through Instilling the Value of Choice over Chance in Selecting RUB Programmes. Digital transformation was the focus of Group 21 which proposed Digital RUB – One University, One Digital Experience, advocating integrated digital platforms across colleges. Group 22 highlighted the potential of peer-based learning through Transforming Learners into Co-Educators. Group 23 introduced RUB ResearchVision26 to enhance research culture, output, and institutional visibility. Focusing on student welfare and support systems, Group 24 proposed for RAB Phandey (RUB Welfare Scheme).
At the room level, engagement reflected diverse disciplinary perspectives, with ideas complementing one another across academic, administrative, and student-centered domains. The collective outputs from Room IT 03 contribute meaningfully to the RUB Ideas Summit’s goal of generating 100 actionable ideas by addressing interconnected challenges through coordinated institutional innovation.
